Roles
& Responsibilities
- As the Medical Records Technician (Medical Coder), you will perform the following duties:
- Maintain the quality of patient records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Code assigned work based on established or stated priorities.
- Interpret medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and diseases.
- Code diagnosis, surgeries and procedures utilizing ICD-9-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding systems.
- Review patients' records to ensure that all conditions of care, surgeries and procedures are properly documented by the clinician and sequenced in order of importance.
- Ensure documentation is present and in appropriate format.
- Completes Patient Treatment File for each admission.
- Utilizes facility computer system and software applications to code, abstract, record, and transmitt data to the national database.
- Uses a variety of windows based applications in day-to-day activities and duties, such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access.
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm (Position is telework eligible)
